B.E.T.S. Mentoring Group at Confluence Old North goes to NASA
The experience of May 27-29th 2011 that was embedded in the minds of all who participated in this truly amazing educational experience for both adults and the children will last for a lifetime. For several students this was their first flight, and that in itself was an experience all its own. For some this was their first trip out of town, and for others it was their first stay in a hotel. The Hyatt Place Convention Center was jaw dropping as soon as you entered the lobby. After getting checked in we were off to dinner. Staff, parents and students were able to learn about Brazilian style food as they dinned at Caf’e Minerio, in Orlando where they were treated to more than six different kinds of meats all evening that included top sirloin, garlic beef, chicken, and Brazilian sausage to name a few. The next morning the bus took us to our launch site where we were taken for a ride across the universe as we took in the NASA, Kennedy Space Center tour that consumed the entire day.
This opportunity that was seized by its participants was another life changing trip for B.E.T.S (Brave Enough To Succeed Mentoring Group) which is comprised of the Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, Young Ladies of Elegance and Young Distinguished Gentlemen. Confluence Academy Old North has collaborated with B.E.T.S. and supports the belief that each one of us can make a positive change in our lives despite our life situation, financial status, or what our friends say. We will stand and be brave enough to succeed, challenge ourselves to thrive, prosper, and grow to accomplish anything we believe we can do. We would like to thank everyone who supported our efforts to make this trip a huge success. Now come on into the blog and share some of our experience.
